Here’s a list of Frequently Asked Questions we’ve compiled for you:
1 – How does SBC vet organizations to be listed on your directory?
Based on our experience and industry standards regarding online presence, we have developed our own 7 Keys Requirements for Best Practice.
Organizations that choose to be Listed, must meet at least 3 requirements. Organizations choosing to be Feature and/or Promoted must meet 4 requirements. You can learn more about each requirement and our Eligibility process on our page here. Before filling out the Registration form for the chosen Annual Service plan, you’ll be asked to complete the eligibility questionnaire which will be reviewed by our team.
If you’re unsure about your organization’s eligibility, please Contact Us here.
2 – How do I find an organization I want to donate to?
On the top of every page on our website, you’ll find the search window where you can search by name, category, or keyword.
From the Homepage, you can also search for organizations by clicking on “Explore Categories” on the search window Where you’ll be directed to a list of 13 category icons to choose from. You can then refine your search selecting any of the subcategories listed.
Our advice is to choose keywords and categories based on your interests, passion or location to find the best match.
3 – Does SBC donate any funds to individuals or organizations in need?
No, we do not donate any funds. The way SBC supports organizations is by inviting them to be added to our online directory and featuring them on Social Media to increase awareness and visibility.

7 – Can I donate to organizations on your site?
Not currently. To donate directly to an organization, you’ll be required to visit their respective website or Social Media links.
8 – How can I help Support Black Charities?
There are several ways to support SBC.
Every time you find and support an organization on our online directory, you’re helping to increase charitable giving and online visibility of B3 organizations across the world.
You’re helping Support Black Charities to continue giving organizations listed on our directory the increased visibility they seek and deserve. You’d be directly contributing to our mission.
You can also directly help Support Black Charities by making a financial contribution on our Donate page here which goes towards our administrative and operation costs allowing us to dedicate more resources to continue our philanthropic advocacy efforts on behalf of the organizations in the Black community.
9 – Do you only add charities to your directory?
No. The word “charities” is defined differently in several parts of the world. Generally, we are looking to add any eligible organizations including charities, non-profits, grassroots, community based or NGOs that meet the minimum requirements to Get Listed, Featured or Promoted.
10 – What if my organization is not Black -led, can it still be added to your directory?
One of our main requirements is that Board members, Executive officers and staff must be at least 50% BIPoC (Black Indigenous People of Color).
***We want to add that in our experience, we find that organizations led by a majority Black leadership team have a clearer understanding and can better identify specific issues or challenges pertinent to the Black community. If you are an organization with a majority non-Black leadership and are serving the Black Community, we are inviting you to consider including more Black qualified individuals to your team. Please contact us for resources.
