Why It Matters?
The UN’s SDGs are fast becoming a way for governments, businesses, organizations, and even individuals to identify not only their goals but also their values, objectives, or social impacts. The vibrant multi-colored representation is developing into a trendy and popular recognizable symbol.
The SDGs are a fun and colorful way to express the impact you want to see in the world.
Over the years, our mission has evolved to something greater than only being known as an online directory. Today our vision is to see Black-serving organizations worldwide become sustainable, self-sufficient, and empowered to create generational impact for the Black Ecosystem to thrive for years to come.
At Support Black Charities (SBC), we align ourselves with 3 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth: Our focus to provide Black organizations with essential business development services such as fundraising, grant writing, impact measurement, digital marketing, and other forms of resources is to contribute to their organization foundation and grow to become employers in the community for the community. Consequently, contributing to the improved socio-economic of the Black Ecosystem which aligns with SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth.
- Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities: Our efforts within the Black community help to empower our people so that we can do more for ourselves and become better abled to contribute to society. By ensuring Black-led organizations receive significant funding and culturally appropriate services, we are helping to build capacity, and self-sufficiency, develop community, and uniquely contribute towards SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.
- Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 17 – Partnerships for the Goals: Our commitment to the SDGs extends beyond borders. Through programs like the Online Directory and Global Black Philanthropy Initiative, we are bringing much-needed attention to the goals by sharing information about the significance of each one for the Black community while raising funds for all the SBC organizations through collective and focused. Our commitment to an international approach to supporting Black organizations to strengthen the implementation of initiatives towards sustainable development practice demonstrates how SBC is collaborating to address global challenges, mirroring SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
