Our mission is to create a global community of black organizations, black donors, volunteers, supporters as well as allies interested in contributing to the community they identify with locally (“home”) or abroad (“back home”).
Our vision is to inspire compassion while increasing visibility of organizations serving the Black community. How? We are building an online directory. We feature organizations, their programs, their events or their executive/volunteer teams on Social Media to amplify their mission based on chosen service plan. Finally we bring attention to and raise awareness on issues specific to the Black experience.
WHO WE ARE
SupportBlackCharities is a registered non-profit organization (BN 724509732) that connects small and medium-sized charitable organizations (including nonprofits and grassroots) to supporters in the community. We’re a group of people with strong ties to our community and we are committed to increasing charitable giving for people of African and Caribbean descent.
We were inspired by the “Support Black Businesses” movement that led to more black people choosing to buy from black businesses and consequently invest in their own communities. This directly affected the socio-economic growth. Another way to have a positive impact and elevate the black community is to contribute to its social wellness by creating a “Support Black Charities” movement.
***Please note that the word “charity” used in all our documentation includes any charitable organizations such as charities, non-profit, community or grassroots organizations.
HOW WE WORK
SupportBlackCharities actively looks for worthy charitable organizations (including nonprofits, NGOs or grassroots) to add to our growing database. A concern that many supporters have is whether a charity is trustworthy. We work with all organizations to assess transparency and trustworthiness according to our own 7 Key Requirements for Best Practice. Each organization that is included in the SupportBlackCharities online portal meets at least 3/4 of 7 of the requirements and elevates the African and Caribbean community either on a local or global scale.
We encourage supporters to get involved in different ways to support a cause by volunteering, donating items or money, and raising awareness on social media. The organizations on the directory all carry out regular communication with supporters so they can see the impact their support has on the organization.
WHAT WE DO
For Supporters, we offer a detailed database of charitable organizations benefiting the black community listed by category and sub category, making it easy to search for specific causes or organizations.
For Charities (including nonprofits, grassroots, CSO, NGOs, etc.), we provide visibility among the black community through our online portal and access to free (Social Media featured posts) and premium resources (coming soon, available on demand).
For Businesses, we help create opportunities for businesses to align with relevant causes as well as feature those who already are supporting a cause.

If you believe in the movement that SupportBlackCharities is trying to build and want to donate to our cause, 100% of the Donations to SupportBlackCharities goes towards:
- Web hosting
- Consultation fees: Graphic/Web Design, Social Media Management, Branding and Marketing strategies
- Marketing fees: Customized Promotion per directory category, Promotion, Advertising, Digital Marketing and associated material
- Program Development
Support Black Charities (SBC) is a federally incorporated nonprofit organization where Tax Receipt are issued for donations through our Trustee Partner VX3 Exchange via CanadaHelps.
Tax receipts are only available for Canadian based donations at this time. You receive a tax receipt for 100% of the Value of your donation.
We are currently fundraising specifically for the following:
- Upgrading website to improve user experience and better manage online directory
- Increase marketing content: Social media marketing, targeted content research, increase postings, expand to other platforms (LinkedIn, etc)
- Increase visibility with Paid Advertising: Social Media/Digital media and Print media
- Outsourcing/Consulting fees for development of programs & workshops for organizations
